About/Contact
I am interested in Growing. Sustenance. Health. Sunshine. Rain. Freedom and Responsibility. Sometimes I believe in things that actually seem like a fairytale or science fiction, such as the soil is the real last frontier. I also think that failure is redeemed by action, whether in the garden or outside of it.
1. I Write. For GoodVeg magazine on Squidoo for the column A Subversive Plot and a new blog post about once per week. I also write articles… check out the Permaculture Activist, August 2011 issue.
2. I Photograph Gardens & Wild Edibles. I like taking photos of fruits and vegetables, the natural everyday breath of beauty found in the mundane.
3. I Design & do Walkabouts. By taking research, first hand knowledge, photo’s. From these I create items of use such as A Gardeners Planting Calendar and Quick Reference Guides, found in the shop. On walkabout’s at your site I discuss possibilities for design & plant selections specific to your location.
4. I Speak & Teach. In presentations. Or classes. Or workshops about Gardens, Aesthetics, Cooking in Season, Permaculture. I have taught how to look at common elements of design in fine arts to then show you how to utilize these elements in your own yard using edible plants. I have taught adults how to make a rain barrel and talked to elementary students about drought. Recent presentations include the Indiana State Master Gardener Conference (“Permaculture & Sustainability”), co-presented at the American Planning Association Indiana Chapter (“Urban Agriculture and City Planning”), and the Bloomington Garden Club (“The Beauty of the Potager”).
